Events
Families are the heart of the Civitas Homeschool Resource Center (CHRC). The CHRC is a place for the whole family to come and find community. Right now, the CHRC focuses on the children in the family, but the hope is to also create a special place for the adults to meet and get to know each other too. It takes a community to homeschool our children and at the CHRC we focus on building those bonds. Here is a handbook that helps describe in more detail what to expect when enrolling at CHRC or participating in our events.
Homeschool Family & Middle School Dance

You're invited to step onto the red carpet and shine like a star at our Hollywood-themed Family and Middle School Dances created for homeschool students and families of SLO County! Join us for a night of fun, friends, and fabulous memories at Atascadero Bible Church on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Family Dance | 4:30 – 6:00 PM
Our early evening dance is the perfect time for families with younger kids to come together and celebrate! Dance, play, and enjoy the music in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. We'll have tasty snacks, great tunes, and a fun photo booth to capture all the smiles and silly moments. Please note that this is not a drop-off event, every child must be accompanied by an adult, and no chaperones will be provided. All ages are welcome, so bring the whole crew and get ready to groove!
Middle School Dance | 6:30 – 9:00 PM
Now it's time for our 5th–8th grade homeschool students to shine! Come dressed to impress and enjoy a night of music, dancing, refreshments, and good times with friends. Our photo booth will be ready for those star-studded poses, so don’t forget to smile for the "paparazzi!"
Homeschool High School Dance

Join other homeschool high school students in San Luis Obispo County at our High School Dance. The theme for this year's dance is Under The Stars. It will be an event for any 9th-12th graders to attend. There will be dancing to popular music, dessert from "Let's Crave It Crepes" food truck, munching on snacks, and hanging out with friends. There will be a photo backdrop available for use. Make sure to invite your friends and get your tickets today!

Handicraft Faire
​
Support young entrepreneurs at our Handicraft Faire, where K–12 homeschool students will host booths showcasing their handmade goods. From crafts to gifts, this is a fantastic opportunity to shop local, just in time for the holiday season. Come check it out on November 18, 2025, at 3:00-6:00 PM at Abide Calvary in Atascadero. Let us know you will be coming by indicating you are "going" on our Facebook invite (link below).
If you would like to be a student vendor at this event, you must register by November 10. You do not need to be a member of the CHRC to join. Just fill out the form and get ready to sell your goods. This is a great opportunity to practice interpersonal, business, and personal skills.
